The Black Diamond Momentum Al climbing harness is the adjustable leg version of the popular Black Diamond Momentum. It really is comfortable, has great gear loops, lots of functions and costs an only $50. You need to devote a TON more cash to get just small improvements in weight, comfort or features.

In the event that you just beginning to climb or you also are on a budget, and you also need adjustable leg loops, it is difficult to beat this climbing harness for the cash. You might probably go many years before ever purchasing another harness. We go for the Black Diamond Momentum and would prefer no buckles on the legs. If you are purchasing a variant of the harness with leg buckles, we prefer the speed fix buckles of the Black Diamond Momentum SA but you have to pay another $ 10. That is not much additional, but it starts putting you near the price band of higher scoring harnesses like the $70 Camp Quartz CR3 or the $75 Petzl Corax. It is tough to beat the worth of the harness specially if you obtain the Dark Diamond Momentum AL Package which comes with the chalk, belay device, locking carabiner and chalk bag for

$ 99. This climbing harness has it all: relaxation, great gear loops, slick design, full strength trail line loop and beefy belay loop. The equipment loops are pleasant because they're inflexible, stick out from the harness and are simple to clip. In addition, they are right next to each other; there is not an annoying gap for that specific plastic biner for ice climbing protection (sorry ice climbers). The leg loops are easy to release, really much simpler to release than on the bigger end Black Diamond harnesses. The material within the waist and leg loops is really cosy and comfy.

There are seven versions of the Momentum line including the Black Diamond Momentum, Black Diamond Momentum SA, Black Diamond Momentum DS and the women's versions: Black Diamond Primrose, Black Diamond Primrose SA, Black Diamond Primrose AL. They all share similar padding and gear loops but use distinct waist and leg tightening systems. They all vary widely in price.

The primary dislike with this funnel is there is no self locking (speed adjust) buckle for the waist belt or legs. There is the Black Diamond Momentum SA version (SA stands for speed adjust) that does have self-locking buckles, but you need to pay an additional $10. OutdoorGearLab testers are biased towards harnesses that have fewer buckles and certainly do not want to pay additional to have more of them.

It is a superb all around harness. It works nicely in the gymnasium, at sport crags or on multi pitch climbs. Chris Mac would even take it on El Cap and probably really like it. It is one of the finest values in harnesses with leg buckles. But the Mars does come with self-locking buckles, which this one will not.
